Xiaomin Xu has a diverse work experience in the field of bioinformatics and data analysis. Starting in 2013, Xiaomin worked as a Data Management Intern at the Alzheimer Disease Cooperative Study. In 2014, Xiaomin was a Statistical Modeling Volunteer at the National Consortium on Alcohol & Neurodevelopment in Adolescence at UCSD. In 2015, Xiaomin was a Market Access Analyst Intern at ResMed. In 2016, Xiaomin worked as a Programmer Analyst at UC San Diego Health, a Data Analyst at Illumina, and a Statistician at Precision Consulting, Inc. Lastly, from 2017 to 2019, Xiaomin worked as a Sr Bioinformatics Analyst and Sr Bioinformatics Scientist at Xbiome. During this period, Xiaomin was responsible for data analysis, project management, and cross-department communication. Additionally, Xiaomin was involved in exploring microbiome profile, differential analysis toolkits development, clinical trial data analysis, and machine learning model development to predict disease risk with human microbiome data.
Xiaomin Xu obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Applied Mathematics (Mathematical Finance) from South China Normal University between 2008 and 2012. Xiaomin then went on to receive their Master's Degree in Statistics from UC San Diego between 2012 and 2014. In 2014, they also obtained nine Coursera Verified Certificates in Exploratory Data Analysis, Getting and Cleaning Data, Practical Machine Learning, R Programming, Regression Models, Reproducible Research, Statistical Inference, The Data Scientist’s Toolbox, and SAS Base Programming for SAS 9.
