Brian Mays is a highly experienced nuclear engineer with a robust background in safety analysis, engineering analysis, and academic instruction. Currently serving as a Nuclear Engineer in Nuclear Safety Analysis at X-energy, Brian oversees safety analysis calculations for advanced high temperature gas-cooled reactor designs. Prior roles include Principal Engineer at Framatome, where contribution to advanced reactor programs involved research and development on various cooling technologies, and similar positions at AREVA NP and AREVA Federal Services, focusing on thermal-hydraulics and reactor physics. Additionally, Brian has taught physics courses as an adjunct professor at Lynchburg College and Randolph-Macon Woman's College. With a PhD in Engineering Physics and a BS in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Virginia, Brian also has a foundation in software development from volunteer work with the Debian GNU/Linux distribution.
