Charles Bernard

Charles Bernard is an experienced professional in the pharmaceutical industry, currently serving as Executive Director of CMC, Drug Substance at Xenon Pharmaceuticals Inc. since August 2022, following a tenure as Senior Director in the same area. Bernard previously held roles at Arena Pharmaceuticals, where responsibilities included Director of Drug Substance Development & Manufacturing, and at Sienna Biopharmaceuticals, focusing on manufacturing oversight for clinical-stage candidates. Prior experiences also include significant contributions at Shire and Baxalta in managing drug substance manufacturing, technical oversight, and regulatory submissions. Throughout a career beginning at Amgen, Bernard has demonstrated expertise in process chemistry, drug substance activities, and project management, supported by a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry from Université de Moncton.
