JP Johnson Jr. has extensive experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, currently serving as Senior Vice President of Biology at Xenon Pharmaceuticals Inc. since August 2014, where responsibilities include overseeing the biology team and guiding internal discovery programs. Prior roles at Xenon included Vice President and Senior Director of Cellular and Molecular Biology, contributing to the development of NaV1.6 inhibitors in clinical trials. Previously, at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, JP co-led a lead optimization effort resulting in a sodium channel inhibitor that demonstrated human analgesic activity. Academic foundations were established at the University of Washington and Vanderbilt University, culminating in a Ph.D. in Pharmacology.
