Pieter van Schalkwyk has over 30 years of experience in various roles. Pieter began their career in 1988 as a Plant Engineer at AECI Limited, where they were responsible for plant and production processes, as well as financial, technical, and HR management. In 1993, they co-founded Enserve Engineering Services (Pty) (Ltd), where they were Technical Director and was responsible for engineering and quality management processes. In 1997, they co-founded visAbility Solutions (Pty)Ltd, where they were Managing Director and Product Architect. In 1998, they became a Director at Accsys (Pty) Ltd. In 2000, they became CEO and major shareholder of FlowCentric Technologies Pty (Ltd). In 2016, they became Chair of the Industrial Internet Consortium's Digital Twin Interoperability Task Group and Digital Transformation and Distributed Ledger Task Groups. In 2019, they became a Contributor at the Forbes Technology Council. In 2020, they became Co-chair of the Digital Twin Consortium's Natural Resources Work Group. Since 2009, they have been CEO of XMPro Inc, where they lead a team of professionals in designing, developing, and deploying innovative event-based Digital Twins and Event Intelligence applications.

Pieter van Schalkwyk began their education in 1983, graduating with a B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering from Potchefstroom University in 1987. Pieter then pursued a M.IT in Information Technology from the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria, graduating in 2007. Pieter also attended Drie Riviere, but there is no further information available about that experience.
