Joe Clarkson has a diverse work experience spanning three different companies. Joe started their career in 1981 in the US Navy, where they served for 30 years as a Naval Officer and Naval Aviator, eventually reaching the rank of Captain. During their time in the Navy, they held various leadership roles, including Commanding Officer of the USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75), where they oversaw the operations and maintenance of a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. Joe also served as the Commanding Officer of the USS DENVER (LPD 9), where they were responsible for the operations of a 15,000 ton ship and the training and welfare of the crew.
In 2011, Joe transitioned to the private sector and joined InnovaSystems International, LLC. There, they served as the Business Unit Lead and Project Manager, leading a team of over 80 information technology professionals. Joe managed the entire lifecycle of software applications and systems, from customer liaison to development, test, release, engineering, and customer support.
Currently, Joe is working at Xylem Tree Experts as the VP of Business Development, a position they assumed in 2023. Prior to this, they held the role of Director of Contract Management and Analysis at the same company. Joe also served as a Project Lead.

Joe Clarkson attended the Georgia Institute of Technology from 1977 to 1981 where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering. In 2003 and 2004, they received training in nuclear power and propulsion theory and operations at the US Navy Nuclear Propulsion Training.
