Canyen is a senior data analyst at Y2 Analytics.
Before joining the team, he studied at Brigham Young University and graduated with a degree in International Relations and a minor in Non-profit Management. Through BYU’s Kennedy Center for International Studies, he has done studies abroad in West Africa and Southeast Asia.
At BYU, he developed an interest in statistics and data analysis. He worked as a research assistant for the Center on the Study of Elections and Democracy at BYU for almost two years. During his time there, he worked on a number of projects analyzing data regarding American public opinion, Super PACs and other Independent Expenditure groups, and Voter Registration and turnout in American general and midterm elections. Many of these works have already been published or are forthcoming in journals such as PLOS, Journal of Politics, and American Political Science Review. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Data Analytics from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
