Trisha Craig

Vice President (Engagement) at Yale-NUS College

Trisha Craig is the Vice President (Engagement) at Yale-NUS College. Dr Craig is responsible for the College’s initiatives and activities in the areas of external engagement, alumni affairs and summer programming. As VP (Engagement), Dr Craig focuses on creating opportunities for purposeful engagement and building strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and institutions within Singapore, the region and the world at large. Previously, she was Dean for International & Professional Experience at the College.

Dr Craig’s professional and academic focus has been international. Before relocating to Singapore, she was Executive Director of Harvard’s Center for European Studies, a leading graduate and post-doctoral research centre for the study of Europe. Dr Craig’s experience in Asia began at the Harvard Institute for International Development where she worked in numerous countries doing research and policy advising. Invited by the Asian Development Bank to examine the quality of life in rural Asia, she carried out fieldwork in China, India and Thailand, eventually co-authoring a book on the topic. Subsequently, she developed a year-long project on infrastructure in China that was based in the Foreign Capital Management division of the Chinese Ministry of Finance.

A native of Philadelphia, Dr Craig is the product of a liberal arts education. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in Economics from Swarthmore College and a PhD from Yale in Sociology, where her focus was on political institution building and democratic transitions in Europe. At Yale-NUS, Dr Craig has taught Contemporary European Politics, lectured on the rise of populism, and is a resident faculty member in Elm College.
