Julia Silvestri

Julia Silvestri is an accomplished educator and program coordinator with extensive experience in American Sign Language and deaf culture. Currently serving as an ASL Lector and Program Coordinator at Yale University since July 2021, Julia has also held notable positions as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Teachers College, Columbia University, where Julia received the 2019-2020 Faculty Advisor of the Year award, and led initiatives to expand ASL programming and deaf awareness. Julia's previous roles include Principal at Mill Neck Manor School, ASL Department Teacher in New York City Public Schools, and Director of Student Engagement and Creative Learning at New York School for the Deaf. Julia holds multiple degrees, including a Ph.D. from Columbia University and an Ed.S. from The George Washington University, emphasizing educational leadership and the needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals.
