Sophie is a Principal at Yaletown, bringing nearly 10 years of experience as a corporate and technology lawyer and trusted advisor to tech companies. Based in Montreal, Sophie’s time is spent working with and investing in entrepreneurs who are applying data and technologies to digitally transform traditional industries by prioritizing climate resilient growth.

A passionate advocate for women’s rights, Sophie co-founded the Equality Fund, which, through its partnership with the Canadian government, combines international grantmaking with an innovative approach to impact investing through a gender lens to support the advancement of gender equity globally. Sophie also co-chairs the Diversity & Inclusion Committee of the Canadian Venture Capital and Private Equity Assoication (CVCA).

Prior to joining Yaletown, Sophie co-led Somel Investments, managing its investments, overseeing its operations and providing strategic business and legal expertise to its Quebec-based portfolio companies. She began her career as a lawyer at McCarthy Tétrault LLP, specialising in M&A, private equity and IP law. Sophie holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Laws from Université Laval. She is fully bilingual.
