Nick McDermott

Nick McDermott is a seasoned policy specialist with extensive experience in government engagement and strategic coordination. Currently serving at Yancoal Australia Ltd since January 2018, McDermott manages the company's interactions with Commonwealth and State Governments and represents its interests in industry associations. Prior to this role, McDermott worked at NSW Health from March to December 2017 as a Strategic Engagement Coordinator, addressing contentious issues and assessing governance processes. Earlier, McDermott served as a Policy Adviser for the NSW Minister for Industry, Resources and Energy from June 2014 to February 2017, focusing on cabinet submissions and policy development. McDermott began a career in public service as an Electorate Officer at the Parliament of NSW from July 2011 to June 2014. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws from The University of Notre Dame Australia and a Bachelor of Communication from the University of Newcastle.
