Nirav Desai

Nirav Desai has a strong background in the biotechnology industry, with a focus on vaccine and product development. Nirav is the Founder of Yapan Bio, a biotechnology company that specializes in custom development and manufacturing for vaccines and biologics. In this role, they have established state-of-the-art facilities and ensures compliance with global regulatory authorities.

Prior to Yapan Bio, Desai held the role of Vice President at CPL Biologicals Pvt. Ltd., where they were responsible for the development of vaccines and immunomodulators. Their work included the development of novel vaccines using the Baculovirus-Sf9 system, with a focus on targets such as influenza, rabies, and emerging diseases like EBOLA, MERS, and Zika.

Desai also has experience at Cadila Pharmaceuticals Ltd., where they served as the General Manager of Research Biotechnology. In this role, they headed the vaccine and innovation research group and was responsible for the development of innovative vaccines and products. Nirav led project planning and execution, managed teams, and ensured timely delivery of products in compliance with regulatory standards. Desai also conducted animal experiments and assessed humoral and cellular responses using various assays.

Earlier in their career, Desai worked as a Research Officer at FDC Limited.

Nirav Desai's education history begins with completing their SSC (Secondary School Certificate) at Lions Juhu High School from 1980 to 1991. Nirav then attended Mithibai College from 1992 to 1996, where they obtained a BSc degree in Microbiology. Following that, Nirav pursued a Master's Degree at the Institute of Medical Technology from 1996 to 1998. During this time, they focused on clinical biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, and biotechnology. Lastly, Nirav enrolled at Gujarat University from 2008 to 2011, where they successfully earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Life Sciences.
