Umut Esen

Umut Esen has extensive work experience in the fintech industry. Umut started their career as a Software Engineer at Data Sistem A.S. in 2000 and then co-founded Ideon in 2004. Umut later joined HSBC as a Systems Analyst in 2007. Umut joined Softtech in 2008 and held various roles, including Director of Strategy and Product Management, Coordinator Consultant for Fintech and Strategic Partnerships, Director of Innovation, and Product Development Team Manager/Architect. During their time at Softtech, they contributed to the development of financial solutions and participated in transformation programs. Umut also worked on open banking and prototyped open banking applications as a Venture Builder/Product Builder at İşBANK ParaGönder. In 2018, Umut joined İTÜ Çekirdek as a Jury Member and İmeceMobil as a Venture Builder, where they played a key role in the success of the mobile agri-tech platform. Umut then launched Softtech Ventures in 2020 and served as the Managing Director, leading the recruitment of the management team and early-stage employees, as well as building and commercializing four fintech ventures. Umut currently works at Yapily as a Senior Product Manager since November 2022.

Umut Esen has a diverse educational background. In 1997, they began their studies at Ege University, where they pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering. Umut successfully completed their degree in 2001.

Umut Esen further enhanced their educational qualifications by attending Columbia Business School in 2019. Umut engaged in their Executive Education program, focusing on Mergers & Acquisitions.

Aside from their formal education, Umut Esen has obtained various certifications to expand their knowledge and skills. In 2018, they earned a certification in Private Equity and Venture Capital from Università Bocconi. Umut also holds a TOGAF 9 Certified Architect certification from The Open Group, which they acquired in October 2016. In June 2016, Umut Esen obtained the Pearson Test for English certification.

In August 2022, Umut Esen became a certified Professional Cloud Architect through Google Cloud. Umut also holds an IBM Certified Solutions Designer certification and a Pega Certified Lead System Architect (Part1) credential from Pegasystems, although the specific dates of obtaining these certifications are not provided.
