Sam Chesher is a seasoned finance professional with extensive experience in financial management and consulting. Currently serving as Senior Finance Manager at Yarra Capital Management since July 2022, Sam has previously worked as a Finance Consultant at Buchan for a brief period in early 2022 and as Financial Controller at GSA Capital from June 2016 to December 2021. In these roles, responsibilities included financial statement production across various jurisdictions, audit management, tax return review, regulatory reporting, forecasting, and the management of accounts payable functions. Sam's career in finance began as a Trainee Chartered Accountant at Goldwyns Limited, where assignments involved accounts preparation and audits for diverse clients from November 2011 to December 2015. Sam's foundational education took place at Westcliff High School for Boys from 2003 to 2010.

In April 2021, Yarra Capital Management acquired the Australian operations of global funds management group Nikko Asset Management. Under the terms of the transaction, the two organisations entered into a partnership focused on long-term growth, providing Nikko Asset Management with a 20% stake and board representation in the enlarged group, and expanding Nikko Asset Management’s distribution capacity in Australia. Yarra Capital Management's senior management team comprises Dion Hershan (Executive Chairman and Head of Australian Equities), Edward Eason (Managing Director), Vito D'Introno (Chief Commercial Officer), Katie Hudson (Portfolio Manager and Head of Australian Equities Research), Roy Keenan (Co-Head of Australian Fixed Income), Darren Langer (Co-Head of Australian Fixed Income) and Garvin Louie (Head of Legal, Risk and Compliance & Human Resources). Together they lead a team of approx. 80 professionals, including a 40-person investment team, focused on delivering the best outcomes for the Firm’s clients.
