James Golding

Quality Director at YASA

James Golding serves as the Quality Director at YASA since December 2023, part of the executive team and reporting to the CEO, overseeing corporate quality functions and interfacing with the parent company. Previously, Golding held significant roles at McLaren Automotive Ltd as the Head of Series Vehicle Quality and Head of Quality Operations, where responsibilities included leading a transformation of the quality function. At Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Golding was the QMT Commodity Manager, managing parts quality for various key systems. Earlier career highlights include leadership positions at Protean Electric, Jaguar Land Rover, BMW Group, Rover Group, and Thomson Reuters, focusing on quality management, operations, and process improvement. Golding holds a BEng (Hons) in Manufacturing Systems Engineering and is a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

YASA was founded on the principle that small, light electric motors would play a growing role in meeting both the strict emissions targets being set globally in a wide range of industries and the requirement for greater efficiency through electrification.The Company was incorporated in 2009 based on a unique patented motor technology invented bythe Company’s founder and CTO Dr Tim Woolmer whilst studying for his DPhil at Oxford University. The unique YASA motor technology is ideal for a range of mobile applications such as hydraulics replacement, power generation, traction and propulsion and hybridisation. YASA Motors manufactures a range of standard electric motors and generators based on our unique motor topology at our factory and Company Headquarters in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. The YASA-750, YASA-250 and YASA-400 products have been designed to be integrated into customers’ products in a range of markets and industries with minimal application engineering. In addition to our standard products, YASA has a design and development team dedicated to making bespoke motors for customers for medium-high volume applications.
