Raul Carneiro Martins is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and compliance engineering. Currently serving as Principal EMC and Compliance Engineer at YASA since November 2019, Raul has previously held roles as Principal EMC Design Engineer and Senior EMC Engineer at Nidec Control Techniques from April 2016 to November 2019, focusing on EMC Design and Compliance. Additionally, Raul spent nearly two decades at Instituto Superior Técnico as a Professor, where responsibilities included IT coordination for the Department of Bioengineering and coordination of the Biomedical Technologies Master Program, along with lecturing on various subjects related to biomedical instrumentation. Raul's research experience includes a position as a Senior Researcher at Instituto de Telecomunicações from July 1995 to March 2016. Raul earned a Ph.D. in Stochastic approaches related to non-linearities at Instituto Superior Técnico between 2001 and 2004, following a Master's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the same institution from 1997 to 1999.

YASA was founded on the principle that small, light electric motors would play a growing role in meeting both the strict emissions targets being set globally in a wide range of industries and the requirement for greater efficiency through electrification.The Company was incorporated in 2009 based on a unique patented motor technology invented bythe Company’s founder and CTO Dr Tim Woolmer whilst studying for his DPhil at Oxford University. The unique YASA motor technology is ideal for a range of mobile applications such as hydraulics replacement, power generation, traction and propulsion and hybridisation. YASA Motors manufactures a range of standard electric motors and generators based on our unique motor topology at our factory and Company Headquarters in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. The YASA-750, YASA-250 and YASA-400 products have been designed to be integrated into customers’ products in a range of markets and industries with minimal application engineering. In addition to our standard products, YASA has a design and development team dedicated to making bespoke motors for customers for medium-high volume applications.
