Yazoo River Towing, Inc. is a marine transportation company that hauls both dry and liquid products in bulk. We also provide fully found vessel chartering services for companies in need of horsepower throughout the Western Rivers and Gulf Intracoastal Waterways of the United States. Our history starts in 1936 at the Vicksburg City Front where the Great Grandfather of the current generation of owners started a fisheries and survey boat business. From those beginnings, In 1979 J.O. Smith Jr started Yazoo River Towing. The primary job of YRT was to move grains and fertilizers on the Yazoo River from as far north as Greenwood, MS, to the Mississippi River. Since then, the company has grown and expanded into the vast majority of rivers that flow into the entire Mississippi Valley River System. Today, we also provide freight logistics services for multi-river freight moves as well as project cargo transits. We are a member of the American Waterways Operators and the Waterways Council Inc. Yazoo River Towing, Inc. is TMSA certified with SIRE inspected vessels for the use of petroleum and hazardous chemical towing. We are proud to have called Vicksburg, MS home for the last 49 years.
