Jessica Dorsey has worked in the software engineering field since 2010. In 2010, they began as a Summer Intern at AT&T, where they aided in requirements creation and analysis for improvements on the Pano device used to connect with a virtual desktop and analyzed an internal SQL biased language. In 2011, they worked as a Bioinformatics Intern at the Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research, where they created a Perl script to determine location and orientation of a sequence data within a known genome to fill unknown regions. Jessica also worked as an Independent Study Intern at the USDA, where they developed Perl scripts to identify unique sequences through comparisons and isolated primer sequences specific to a dangerous wheat fungus strain, resolving bugs in the script as they arose. In 2012, they returned to AT&T as a Junior Programmer/Tester, where they reviewed installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and data format documentation for correctness and usability and tested software changes and debugged any issues to determine root cause. In 2016, they moved to Yellow Duck Technologies, Inc. as a Software Engineer, where they aided in development/enhancement of search products, worked with modular programming within the Play framework to create components using JavaScript and handlebars, and enhanced API Scala code to add features such as open search, low bandwidth search, and feedback.
Jessica Dorsey obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Mathematics, Biology, and a minor in Computer Science from Hood College between 2008 and 2012. Jessica then went on to pursue a Master's Degree in Computer Science from Loyola University Maryland between 2014 and 2016. In September 2016, Dorsey obtained a CISSP certification from (ISC)².
