Sam Eaton

As Senior Vice President of Engineering, Sam is responsible for the people responsible for making sure Yelp works. He oversees a rapidly and constantly growing engineering team, and leads our technical recruiting efforts. Sam joined Yelp in 2013 to lead the Site Reliability Engineering team, expanded his role to run other infrastructure engineering teams and in 2016 became the VP of Engineering for Operations and Infrastructure, where he led Yelp’s innovation in technical infrastructure and the scaling of our back end systems. Prior to Yelp, Sam spent 7 years as Director of Web Technology for Future Publishing, a major UK media company. He began his career in Operations in the early days of consumer Internet Service Providers in the mid ‘90s. Sam holds a B.A. in Computing and Artificial Intelligence from the University of Sussex.
