Shaun Blackburn

Shaun Blackburn is the Head of Detection Engineering, Incident Response, and Vulnerability Management at Airbnb.

Shaun is a senior Information Security leader and strategist with experience driving change and innovation in security engineering at scale. His expertise includes building teams for global security operations, establishing and executing innovative security strategies, building disruptive platforms and technologies, and mentoring world-class leaders and engineers.

Prior to Airbnb, Shaun served as Head of Cloud Infrastructure Security at Netflix where he led Netflix’s company-wide engineering strategy and was responsible for securing one of the world’s largest AWS deployments. Previously, he held various security positions at Amazon, most recently serving as Manager of Security Operations. Shaun also previously founded TekSolid, a technical consulting firm providing general IT services to SMBs, and successfully negotiated its acquisition.

Shaun holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and a Master of Science in Information Security and Assurance from Carnegie Mellon University. He is certified in Threat Hunting and Linux Enterprise Incident Response.
