Ctrs Nikki Downey

Nikki Downey, CTRS has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Nikki began their professional journey as a Gate Monitor & Swim Instructor at the Cincinnati Recreation Commission in 2000. Here, they were responsible for monitoring pool operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and supervising staff and patrons.

In 2005, Nikki joined the Greater Naples YMCA as a Senior Program Director. In this role, they directed and supervised program activities, managed coordinators and their staff, and oversaw budgeting.

After that, Nikki held the position of Camp Director at the City of Naples from 2011 to 2014. Nikki spearheaded the development and implementation of an art program for campers, including adaptations for those with special needs. Additionally, they served as a 1:1 counselor for a camper with special needs.

From 2015 to 2017, Nikki worked as the Director of Camp, Inclusion, and Athletics at the Mayerson JCC. Nikki focused on developing and organizing high-quality camp, inclusive, and athletic programs, handled recruitment and training, and managed staff and volunteers.

In 2018, Nikki took on the role of Camp Director at Empowered Wellness Camp. As the director, they led the camp's operations until 2019.

From 2019 until the present, Nikki served as a Recreation Therapist at SUN Behavioral Kentucky. Their responsibilities included providing recreational therapy services to patients.

Most recently, Nikki has taken up the position of Director of Operations at the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati since September 2021.

Overall, Nikki's work experience demonstrates their expertise in program management, staff supervision, inclusive programming, camp operations, and recreational therapy.

Nikki Downey, CTRS has a Master's degree in Recreation and Sports Management/Therapeutic Recreation from Florida International University, which was obtained from 2009 to 2011. Prior to that, Nikki Downey, CTRS completed a Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion and Education Community Health and Exercise Physiology from the University of Cincinnati, which was earned from 2000 to 2005.

In terms of additional certifications, Nikki Downey, CTRS obtained the CTRS® certification from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification in May 2012. Additionally, Nikki Downey, CTRS holds certifications in First Aid and CPR from the American Red Cross, as well as being an Instructor for Balletone, a Lifeguard Instructor for the American Red Cross, an SPARK Instructor from School Specialty, Inc., and a Water Safety Instructor from the American Red Cross. Moreover, Nikki Downey, CTRS has a certification in Youth Mental Health First Aid from Mental Health First Aid Maryland.
