Geoffrey Mertens has a diverse work experience spanning various organizations and roles. Geoffrey currently holds the position of Chief Operating Officer at YMCA of Greater Waukesha County since December 2022. Prior to this, they served as Vice President of Operations at the same company from December 2016 to December 2022. Geoffrey also served as Executive Director at YMCA of Greater Waukesha County from April 2012 to December 2016, where they oversaw all aspects of operations, including facilities, membership, programs, and financial development.

In addition to their YMCA experience, Geoffrey has also worked as an Assistant Football Coach at Arrowhead High School since July 2022. Geoffrey served as Board President and Volunteer at Emma Loves Dogs Foundation from August 2019 onwards. Geoffrey was also a Board Member and Volunteer at Lake Country Chiefs Youth Football from November 2018 to November 2023.

Geoffrey gained extensive experience in the YMCA sector, serving as Executive Director at YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee from October 2008 to April 2012, where they oversaw center operations, fundraising, and community development. Prior to this, they worked as Associate Executive Director at Southwest YMCA from August 2007 to October 2008. Geoffrey also held roles at YMCA of Greater Indianapolis, including Wellness Director at Benjamin Harrison YMCA and Program Director at Hamilton County YMCA. Before joining the YMCA sector, they worked as a Sports Marketing Director at Muncie Visitors Bureau from February 2001 to August 2002.

Geoffrey Mertens obtained a Master's degree in Physical Education-Sports Administration from Ball State University, which was completed between 2000 and 2002. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sport Science-Sports Management from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, from 1996 to 2000. Geoffrey's high school education was completed at River Valley High School, where they obtained a diploma between 1993 and 1996.
