Jeff Merhige

Jeff Merhige has extensive experience in the YMCA organization, with a strong focus on camping services and operations. Jeff started their career at YMCA Camp Kern in 1994, where they held various leadership roles, including Senior Director and Equestrian Director. During their time at Camp Kern, they developed and implemented programs, managed a budget, and oversaw summer programming, equestrian operations, and out-trip programs.

In 1998, Jeff moved to the Ann Arbor YMCA as the Director of Camping Services & Financial Development. In this role, they supervised multiple residential and facility day camp operations, secured partnerships with the state DNR, and handled departmental marketing and promotions.

In 2002, Jeff returned to YMCA Camp Kern as the Executive Director. Jeff was responsible for managing all operations, including summer camp, conferences and retreats, outdoor education, dining and catering, and hospitality. Under their leadership, the camp achieved significant improvements in retention rates for both summer camp and group conferencing.

In 2015, Jeff joined the YMCA of the USA (National Resource Office) as the Co-Chairman of YUSA Camp Cabinet. Jeff represented all YMCA overnight camps and conference centers in the USA and supervised several operating committees. Jeff also played a vital role in supporting the camping industry during the pandemic.

In 2013, Jeff joined the YMCA of Middle Tennessee as the Vice President of Camping Services and later served as the Executive Director. In these roles, they oversaw all operations and support services for a 320-acre facility, managed a $6M budget, and significantly expanded the camp's bed capacity.

Currently, Jeff is the President & CEO of YMCA of Pawtucket, a position they started in 2023.

Jeff Merhige received their Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Bowling Green State University from 1989 to 1993.
