Delaney Burke has a diverse work experience in the education and non-profit sectors. Starting in 2010, Delaney worked as a Youth Development Site Director at the YMCA, where they supervised staff, planned lessons, and managed student behavior. In 2012, they served as a Student Teacher at Valley Springs Middle School, where they planned and implemented engaging science lessons and built strong relationships with staff and students. From 2013 to 2017, Delaney worked as a Science & Social Studies Teacher at Asheville City Schools. In 2018, they joined the YMCA of Western North Carolina as an Administrative Assistant before being promoted to the role of K-12 Director of Operations and eventually Senior Director of Operations: K-12 Programs, where they currently hold this position.
Delaney Burke holds a Master's Degree in Museology/Museum Studies, which was obtained from Johns Hopkins University Advanced Academic Programs from 2015 to 2017. Prior to that, Delaney earned a Teaching Certificate in Junior High/Intermediate/Middle School Education and Teaching from Western Carolina University, completed between 2010 and 2012. Delaney's undergraduate studies were completed at Warren Wilson College, where a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology was obtained from 2005 to 2009.
