Leon van Dyk

Leon Van Dyk has over 20 years of work experience in data engineering, analytics, machine learning, and software development. Leon is currently the Head of Data Engineering at Yoco, where they lead a team and is responsible for data and analytics engineering. Prior to Yoco, Leon was the Head of Data and Decisioning Systems at Kuda, where they played a key role in data management and decision-making processes. Leon also served as a Lead Machine Learning Engineer at Capitec Bank and held various roles at JUMO.WORLD, including Head of Machine Learning and Head of Data Systems. Leon has a strong background in software engineering and worked as a Staff Software Engineer at GE Intelligent Platforms and Senior Software Engineer at CT Lab. Earlier in their career, they founded and served as the Managing Director of TechnoVolve, a software development company. Leon's expertise includes software architecture, data science, and development.

Leon Van Dyk earned a B.ENG degree in Electronic Engineering from Stellenbosch University from 1990 to 1993. Leon also completed additional certifications in Computing for Data Analysis from Coursera in 2014, Introduction to Recommender Systems from Coursera in 2013, Data Mining with Weka from University of Waikato in 2013, and Introduction to Artificial Intelligence from Udacity in 2011. Prior to attending Stellenbosch University, Leon Van Dyk attended Durbanville High, but no degree or field of study is specified.
