David Tolpin has a diverse range of work experience, starting from 1999. David began their career as a CTO at RenderX, where they led a team and implemented a commercially successful XSL Formatting Objects. David then worked as a consultant at Polimetrix, where they designed and developed an online survey system.
Moving forward, David worked at Ben Gurion University of the Negev in various roles, including being a lecturer and a postdoctoral researcher. David taught courses such as Principles of Programming Languages and System Programming.
After their time at Ben Gurion University, David joined PayPal as a Research Scientist. David designed and implemented anomaly detection algorithms, wrote significant lines of code, and built a data science team.
David then worked as a Computer Scientist at CLEW Medical, focusing on Bayesian inference and deep learning for early sign deterioration prediction in intensive care. David introduced a new scoring scheme and designed an algorithm for changepoint detection in vital sign time series.
David's next position was at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev as a Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor). Their research focused on probabilistic programming and Bayesian statistical modelling, exploring its applications in computational health, robotics, and human-computer interaction.
Following that, David worked as the Chief Data Scientist at PubPlus. David designed and helped implement a new distributed architecture for data collection and processing, enhancing forecasting accuracy for critical parameters of advertisement campaigns.
Their most recent position was as a Machine Learning Scientist at Wild Biotech. David collaborated on designing and coding a machine learning and inference architecture for protein interactions. David also invented and deployed a novel method for post-processing and analysis of phase display NGS results, while also helping the team embrace modern software development techniques, tools, and libraries.
David's current position is as an Algorithm Engineer at YOOM.
David Tolpin attended Ben-Gurion University of the Negev from 2007 to 2009, where they earned a Master's degree in Computer Science. David then pursued further studies at the same university from 2010 to 2013 and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer Science.
