York Museums Trust
Scott Furlong has extensive experience in the culture and heritage sector, currently serving as the Corporate Head of Culture and Heritage and Programme Director for Kingston 2025 at the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames since April 2022. Furlong also holds trustee positions at York Museums Trust and the River & Rowing Museum, both since April 2020. As a consultant, Furlong provided expertise in museums, collections, and heritage until April 2022. Previous roles include Director of Collections and Cultural Property at Arts Council England from 2012 to June 2020, and Head of Collections Management at Royal Museums Greenwich from 2003 to 2012. Furlong began a career in curation at the Print Room, Royal Library (Royal Collection) between 1995 and 2003. Furlong's education includes a Professional Certificate in Coaching from Henley Business School, a Postgraduate Diploma in Art History, and a Bachelor's degree in History from the University of Liverpool.

York Museums Trust was formed on 1 August 2002 as an independent charitable trust to manage the museums and gallery service previously run by City of York Council. Supported by the Council, York Museums Trust is responsible for York Art Gallery, York Castle Museum, Yorkshire Museum and Gardens and York St Mary’s.
