Zahra Shahi

Zahra Shahi, PhD, RECE, SEA, currently serves as a Student Support Counsellor at W Ross Macdonald School since 2022, and has been a special educational needs teacher with York Region District School Board since June 2016. With extensive experience in education for individuals with disabilities, Zahra has developed and evaluated curricula tailored to students' unique developmental needs and has fostered supportive learning environments. Prior roles include Teacher Assistant positions and a Teacher Trainer specializing in life skills and orientation for visually impaired students. Zahra has also coordinated events for blind athletes through the Ministry of Education and has published a book on essential life skills for individuals with blindness. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Adapted Physical Education, a Master’s in Health and Adapted Physical Education, and an Early Childhood Education diploma.
