Shengdi Chen

Shengdi (Sharon) Chen, P.Eng., ENV SP is a Project Engineer specializing in climate change and energy conservation at York Region since December 2022, overseeing the largest wastewater energy transfer project globally and developing a long-term net-zero carbon wastewater strategy. With prior experience at WSP in Canada, responsibilities included leading multidisciplinary teams in wastewater infrastructure planning for the Region of Durham and managing substantial budgets to enhance project delivery. The engineering background also includes roles at various organizations, including Hatch, Cole Engineering Group, the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, and Provident Energy Management Inc., where skills in environmental compliance, infrastructure modelling, and energy analysis were developed. Cheng holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Waterloo, emphasizing water resources.
