Bob Spedding

Bob Spedding has extensive work experience in the housing and maintenance industry. Bob currently holds the position of Head of Asset Strategy at Yorkshire Housing, where they started in January 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Strategic Asset Manager at the same company from May 2022.

Before joining Yorkshire Housing, Bob worked for Beyond Housing UK, where they held various roles. Bob was a Regeneration Manager from December 2021 to May 2022. Prior to that, they served as an Asset Planning Manager from July 2019 to December 2021, responsible for managing investment and environment projects. Bob also held the position of Operations Maintenance Manager from January 2019 to July 2019 and Social Enterprise Manager from October 2018 to January 2019.

Bob's previous experience includes working as a Social Enterprise Manager at Yorkshire Coast Homes from June 2012 to October 2018. In this role, they managed The BEACH, which provided building maintenance services and created apprenticeships and job opportunities.

During their time at Yorkshire Housing, Bob held multiple positions. Bob served as a Team Leader from December 2011 to May 2012, overseeing a maintenance team. Bob also worked as a Building Surveyor, undertaking surveys and managing repair schedules, from April 2011 to December 2011. Prior to that, they were a Technical Officer from April 2009 to April 2011, responsible for building surveys, specifications, and contract supervision. Additionally, they worked as a Building Surveyor from September 2007 to April 2009, managing projects and the void property process.

Bob began their career at Mitie, where they worked as a Team Leader from April 2007 to September 2007. Bob then moved on to Scarborough Borough Council, where they served as a Team Leader from June 2005 to March 2007, overseeing repairs, maintenance, and improvements.

Overall, Bob Spedding has a diverse range of experience in asset management, maintenance, and team leadership within the housing and maintenance industry.

Bob Spedding attended York College in York, UK from 2002 to 2004, where they obtained a BTEC in Construction and the Built Environment. Bob later pursued further education at the same college from 2004 to 2006, earning an HNC in Construction and the Built Environment.

In addition to their formal education, Bob has obtained several certifications over the years. In 2004, they completed the Managing Safely course provided by IOSH London Metropolitan Branch. In 2009, they acquired the certification in Housing Health & Safety Rating System from the University of Warwick. In 2016, they obtained the P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings certification from the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS). In 2017, they achieved Excellence in Van Operations certification from the FTA. Lastly, in July 2018, they completed the Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) offered by CITB.
