Kazu Shimura has over 30 years of work experience in various industries. Kazu started their career in 1991 at wowow, where they worked as a Programming and Sales Manager, developing sales strategies and managing sports programming. In 2001, they founded Keitai WOWOW, a mobile application company that provided TV program schedules and advertising services.
From 2007 to 2014, Shimura worked as a Senior Analyst at InfoCom Research, Inc., focusing on media and technology in the US market. Kazu also wrote regular columns for three web media platforms.
In 2014, Shimura joined Yahoo! JAPAN as a Senior Manager and Evangelist, overseeing various projects. From 2015, they served as the CEO of Mobile Video Lab, where they provided consultancy services and worked as a journalist in the technology and media sectors.
Most recently, Shimura worked as the Director of digital business at YOSHIMOTO KOGYO CO.,LTD. Since 2018, they have overseen the company's digital initiatives, including theater operations and talent management.
Kazu Shimura began their education with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Japanese History from Waseda University, which they pursued from 1987 to 1991. Kazu then went on to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Strategy at Emory University's Goizueta Business School, completing their studies from 1998 to 2000. Continuing their academic journey, Shimura obtained a Ph.D. in Marketing from the Kochi Institute of Technology, where they attended from 2003 to 2005.
