Bert Bakker has held various roles in the insurance industry. Bert started their career at OUTsurance in 2002 as an Actuarial Analyst and worked their way up to become an Actuarial Manager. In 2014, they became the Chief Operating Actuary at OUTsurance. In 2015, Bakker joined Youi Insurance as the Chief Operating Officer, where they also served as the COO for Actuarial and Analytics. Bert then became the Chief Risk Officer at Youi Insurance in 2020 before returning to the role of Chief Operating Officer in 2023.
Bert Bakker obtained an Honours degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Pretoria from 1998 to 2001. Bert then pursued further education and earned a FIA degree in Actuarial Science from the Institute of Actuaries between 2002 and 2006.
