Young Farmers' Clubs of Ulster
John Henning OBE currently serves as the 37th President of the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society since March 2024. In addition to this role, John is a Trustee and Immediate Past National Chairman of the Council for Awards of Royal Agricultural Societies and a General Committee Member of The Farmers Club, where John also chairs the Communications Sub Committee for 2025. John has been a Trustee of Lantra since August 2018, and holds the position of Nuffield Farming Scholar, focusing on the future of agricultural shows since being awarded the scholarship in April 1996. Furthermore, John is a Trustee and Past President of the Gleno Valley Young Farmers' Clubs of Ulster, a Governor of the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers, and an Honorary Affiliate of the North of Ireland Veterinary Association. John's involvement extends to being a season ticket holder for Ulster Rugby and a Committee Member of the Guild of Agricultural Journalists in Ireland for the Northern Section. John completed short courses in Animal/Livestock Husbandry and Production at The Open University in 1982 and is an alumnus of Newry High School (Newry Grammar) from 1969 to 1977.
