David Jezek’s commitment to the YMCA started at an early age. His father served as a leader within the organization throughout David’s childhood and young adulthood, exposing him to the many athletic, philanthropic and social opportunities the Y has to offer. Throughout his nearly 40-year professional career at the Y, David has served its mission in a variety of roles including: lifeguard, camp counselor, physical director, executive director, vice president, and chief operating officer. His past Y affiliations include Corsicana Family YMCA in Texas; YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City in Oklahoma; YMCA of Capital Area in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; YMCA of Florida’s First Coast in Jacksonville, Florida; and YMCA of the Treasure Coast in Stuart, Florida.

David joined the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg as president and CEO in 2008 and has since been pivotal in the Association’s substantial organizational growth and community impact. During his tenure, the Y has more than doubled its operational budget with more than $14M invested in capital projects. Among those successful projects are the Childs Park YMCA, Bardmoor YMCA and three thriving YMCA Preschool Academies. David has also played a vital role in establishing the YMCA of the Cayman Islands, one of the newest YMCAs in the worldwide Movement. Additionally, he is a Past Chair of the Florida State Alliance of YMCAs and recipient of the 2019 YMCA Legacy Award from the YMCA Professional Network.

David attended Texas Tech University, where he earned a BS in Physical Education. He lives in downtown St. Petersburg with his wife, Susan, and is extremely proud of his three grown sons and their families.
