Barb Ewing

Chief Executive Officer at Youngstown Business Incubator

Barb Ewing has extensive work experience in economic development and public policy. Barb began their career in 1995 as Vice President of Public Policy at the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber. In this role, they created Grow Mahoning Valley, a public/private/labor partnership that prioritized projects and lobbied for infrastructure investment to support economic development. Barb also led the Chamber's public policy program and built support for local economic development efforts at the grassroots level. In 2003, they joined Congressman Tim Ryan, Oh-17 as Director of Economic Development. In this role, they were involved in all aspects of community and economic development for the 17th District of Ohio and was responsible for overseeing the annual appropriations process. In 2011, they joined the Youngstown Business Incubator as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer. In this role, they worked across both entrepreneurship and technology transition to support the resurgence of Youngstown and the surrounding community. Additionally, they were part of both the Ohio Additive Manufacturing Cluster and the SMART Manufacturing Cluster, working to advance technology adoption by industry.

Barb Ewing received their Bachelor of Arts degree from Kent State University in 1988, majoring in American Studies and minoring in Secondary Education. Barb then went on to obtain their Masters degree from Capella University in 2007.
