Michelle Kirk has a diverse work experience in the education field. Michelle began their career as a classroom teacher and coach at the American International School of Rotterdam. Michelle then moved to LAWRENCE PUBLIC SCHOOLS, USD #497, where they taught various grades and actively participated in committees to improve student safety and academic planning. Michelle also worked as an administrative intern at Quail Run Elementary School, assisting with staff evaluation and data analysis. At West Middle School, they served as a middle school teacher and curriculum committee member, focusing on diversity and inclusion initiatives. Michelle later became a classroom teacher at Quail Run Elementary School and most recently worked as a brand director at Younique Products, achieving significant sales and utilizing social media platforms. Currently, they are a teacher mentor and 5th-grade classroom teacher at Park Hill School District.

Michelle Kirk earned their Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Education and Teaching, K-9 from Kansas State University in the academic year 1988-1989. Michelle then pursued a Master's degree in Building Leadership at Baker University from 2007 to 2009. Prior to that, they attended The University of Kansas from 1985 to 1987, where they studied Physical Therapy/Therapist, although they did not obtain a degree in that field. In terms of additional certifications, Michelle obtained a Missouri Certification, 1-6, Career CPC from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in June 2021. Michelle also received the Kansas Building Leadership K-12 certification from the Kansas State Department of Education in 2009.
