Shady Shehata

Shady Shehata has over 10 years of work experience in the technology and data science field. In 2018, Shehata joined YOURIKA as the CTO and Head of AI Platform & Data Science. Prior to this, Shehata worked at D2L from 2009-2018 in various roles. These roles included Director, Business Intelligence, Principal Data Scientist, Business Intelligence Manager, Senior Research Scientist, and Senior Software Developer, Learning Platform. In their role as Director, Business Intelligence, Shehata led the organization to adopt a data-driven culture and made a significant change in decision-making processes to enable descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics. Shady also worked with Big Data solutions in the cloud to drive insights for the business and developed new methodologies and tools to enable advanced probabilistic and predictive modeling and statistical analysis against petabyte-scale data sets. As a Senior Research Scientist, Shehata worked on the Student Success System (S3), leading the research and development of machine learning and data mining algorithms and their development in production.

Shady Shehata attended the University of Waterloo from 2004 to 2009, obtaining a Ph.D. in Computer and Electrical Engineering Department, Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence Lab, with a focus on Machine Learning, Data Mining, Text Mining, and Artificial Intelligence. Additionally, Shehata holds a certification in Oracle Database Administration.
