Ben Askew

Ben Askew has a diverse work experience. Ben began their career in 2011 as an Essential Gap Year student at The Salvation Army. In 2012, they became a student at the University of Sussex. In 2015, they worked as a Teaching Assistant at Woodbury C of E Primary School. In 2017, Ben began working at the University of Exeter as a Senior Developer and PHP Developer, where they were responsible for maintaining and developing a range of applications used by the University. In 2021, they became a Lead Backend Engineer and Senior Laravel Engineer at YourParkingSpace, developing on a Laravel codebase, handling large datasets, writing complex algorithms and efficient database queries, integrating with third party APIs, adding new features and fixing bugs.

Ben Askew completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Psychology at the University of Sussex between 2012 and 2015. Prior to that, they obtained A Levels in Psychology, Computing and Maths at Exmouth Community College between 2004 and 2011. In June 2017, they earned an ITIL Foundation certificate in IT Service Management from AXELOS Global Best Practice. Ben also holds a certification from Google's Digital Garage.
