Jacob Stevens-Yager has a strong background in legal counsel and regulatory affairs. Jacob has worked at Yousician since 2021, starting as a Legal Counsel and later becoming a Senior Legal Counsel. In 2023, they took on the role of Head of Legal.

Before joining Yousician, Jacob worked at the IOTA Foundation from 2019 to 2021. Jacob initially started as a Regulatory Affairs Intern, providing support in establishing a global blockchain congress. Jacob then moved up to become a Junior Legal and Regulatory Affairs Counsel, where they researched and advised on regulations in the cryptocurrency and technology space. In 2020, they were promoted to Legal and Regulatory Affairs Counsel and also served as the Data Protection Officer, focusing on ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.

Prior to their time at the IOTA Foundation, Jacob worked as a Legal Intern at OMA in 2018, where they conducted legal research and provided support on international laws affecting the architecture practice, with a particular focus on GDPR and intellectual property rights. Jacob also gained experience as a Face-to-Face Campaigner at UNICEF Finland in 2017.

Throughout their career, Jacob has been involved in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various commercial agreements as well as agreement templates. Jacob has also focused on ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy regulations, providing cross-departmental support, and advising on legal issues in different fields.

Jacob Stevens-Yager has a diverse education history. Jacob obtained a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from The Australian National University in 2020. Prior to that, they completed a Master's Degree in Law and Information Society from Turun yliopisto - University of Turku between 2016 and 2019. In 2017, they attended Sogang University for a student exchange in the field of law. Jacob pursued their Bachelor's Degree in Law and Commerce at the University of Canberra from 2011 to 2016 and also participated in a student exchange program at Hong Kong Baptist University in 2015, focusing on Accounting and Finance. Jacob has also obtained additional certifications, including being certified in EU GDPR Foundation and Practitioner and as a Data Protection Officer from The Knowledge Academy in 2020.
