Karin Liiv

Board Member at Youth In Action

Karin has worked in and around middle schools, high schools, and youth-serving organizations across the country for over 25 years, with particular expertise in large-scale, school-based program startups involving multiple and diverse stakeholders. She has long admired YIA’s work and believes it is an essential component in the transformation of traditional power structures based on racial, gender, and class privilege. Karin has a B.A. in Philosophy from Williams College, and both an Ed.M. (Adolescent Risk & Prevention) and Ed.D. (Culture & Communities) from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where her doctoral research focused on how teachers’ perceptions of power impact their disciplinary relationships with students.
