Daniel Fung currently serves as the Executive Director at Youth Music Monterey County, a position held since 2024. Previously, Daniel worked as the Creative Development Program Director at Minnesota Opera from 2022 to 2023, where responsibilities included leadership of educational programs focused on social emotional learning and equity, overseeing program staff, and managing diverse educational offerings. Daniel's academic career includes roles as an Assistant Teaching Professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and the University of Nevada, Reno, as well as an Assistant Adjunct Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a focus on vocal coaching, collaborative piano, and conducting. Daniel holds a Doctor of Musical Arts and a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano from The Juilliard School, along with two degrees in Piano Performance from the University of Calgary.

Featuring talented young musicians from over 30 local schools, YMMC's Junior Youth and Honors Orchestras present three acclaimed symphonic concerts at Sunset Center each year. Three chamber music programs, including the Chamber Players, Brass Ensemble, and Woodwind Ensemble, focus on the intensive study of small-group music and give back to their communities through benefit concerts. And our South County Strings program reaches over 200 students each year in rural South Monterey County communities with free group string instruction and low-cost instrument rentals.
