Jake Schoneker

Jake Schoneker is an experienced media professional with a strong background in journalism and youth development. Currently serving as the Executive Director of Youth Beat since September 2010, Jake focuses on empowering Oakland youth through media production and career pathways. Previously, in the roles of Program Director and Teaching Artist at Youth Beat, Jake developed engaging curricula and trained young videographers. Jake also has experience as a Freelance Reporter/Producer for PBS NewsHour, where several documentaries were produced, and as an intern at Phnom Penh Post, recognized for a multimedia feature on the Khmer Rouge Tribunal. Jake holds a Master of Science in Journalism from UC Berkeley and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Villanova University.
