Pedro Torres

Pedro Torres has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Pedro currently serves as the Co-Founder & CEO of Youverse, a position they have held since October 2019.

In addition, Pedro has worked as an Advisor to the Board of Governors at Hospitality Technology Next Generation (HTNG) from July 2020 to July 2022. In this role, they contributed technical recommendations and provided advice to the board, with a focus on fostering innovation in customer recognition, establishing best practices around privacy and service personalization, and creating collaborative design thinking ecosystems between large hospitality businesses and startups.

Prior to their current positions, Pedro held roles at Vision-Box, where they served as an Innovation Director from October 2017 to September 2019 and as a Marketing Director from October 2015 to October 2017. In these positions, they were responsible for corporate innovation, product and market strategy, P&L management, daily operations, and change management.

Before joining Vision-Box, Pedro worked at Portugal Telecom as an International R&D Coordinator from February 2012 to September 2015. In this role, they built and maintained relationships with customers, implemented corporate R&D strategies, and delivered winning proposals for funding programs.

Pedro also has research experience, having served as a Research Fellow at Goldsmiths College, University of London from October 2009 to January 2012, and as a Research Associate at Imperial College London from April 2008 to July 2009.

Pedro Torres has a diverse education history spanning from 1995 to 2019. Pedro started their educational journey at Instituto Superior Técnico, where they pursued a Licenciatura (BSc+MSc) in Engineering Physics from 1995 to 2001. Following this, they completed a Master's Degree in Applied Mathematics from Instituto Superior Técnico between 2001 and 2003.

Continuing their academic pursuit, Pedro went on to pursue a Diploma in Computer Science at the University of Cambridge from 2003 to 2004. Pedro then attended the Cambridge Judge Business School from 2004 to 2005, where they completed the Enterprise Programme, focusing on Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies.

Pedro's passion for artificial intelligence led him to Imperial College London, where they engaged in PhD Research in Artificial Intelligence from 2005 to 2009. A few years later, in 2019, they attended the Design Thinkers Academy London to participate in the Design Thinkers Bootcamp, concentrating on Design Thinking.
