Mike Kavallierou

Mike Kavallierou has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the technology and entertainment industry. Mike is currently working as a Software Engineering Manager at YouView TV Limited, where they focus on onboarding Content Partner services onto the YouView Platform and ensuring a high-quality user experience. Mike collaborates with major industry names like BBC, ITV, C4, Five, BT Sport, Now, Netflix, and Amazon to deploy applications, linear channels, and on-demand media.

Prior to their current role, Mike worked at Sony Interactive Entertainment as a Senior Director, responsible for managing the team that implemented and globally released the Interactive Display Unit software for PlayStation 5. Mike also served as a Senior Director at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe for a year, being involved in the company's R&D work.

Mike's long tenure at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, starting in 2006, saw him take on the role of Director. Mike was promoted during this time and took on additional responsibilities, leading multiple teams and planning for support of new initiatives and hardware. Mike also played a crucial role in software engineering collaborations with external partners, bringing streaming services like VidZone, MUBI, and LOVEFiLM to PlayStation.

Before joining Sony, Mike worked at SCEE Technology Group as a Manager, where they focused on network hardware and software support for the growing online gaming areas of the PlayStation console. Mike created and managed a specialized network support team and evaluated technology and product plans for the development of the PlayStation Network online service.

Starting their career at Microsoft Xbox, Mike joined as one of the early European employees and served as the European Developer Support Manager, managing partner support requirements and communication with the American support team. Mike later transitioned to the Xbox Certification group, where they played a key role in the submission lab build and provided support for certification processes. Mike also contributed to the debugging and diagnosis of problems in Europe for Xbox Live, working closely with the American engineering teams.

Mike Kavallierou completed their Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at the University of Portsmouth from 1993 to 1997. In addition, they obtained several certifications in 2022, including "Agile at Work: Planning with Agile User Stories," "Cert Prep: Scrum Master," "Goal Setting: Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)," "Managing Project Stakeholders," and "Scrum: Advanced" from LinkedIn.
