Liz Bui has extensive experience in the legal and business fields. Liz began their career in 2001 as a Technology Specialist at Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly. In 2004, they joined DLA Piper as an Associate. In 2007, they joined ViaCyte as Vice President, IP Counsel & Diversity & Inclusion Officer, where they were responsible for overseeing all matters related to intellectual property and implementing corporate partnerships, licensing contracts, and other key business alliances. In 2017, they became an Adjunct Professor of Law and Patent Clinic Supervisor at the University of San Diego School of Law, providing transactional legal services to high technology business startups and other emerging growth companies. In 2021, they joined the University of Dayton School of Law as an Entrepreneurship and the Law Capstone for ABA-Approved Online JD, developing a new, first of its kind, ABA-approved law capstone and teaching the course in Fall 2022. Finally, in 2022, they joined Yulex LLC as the Chief Business Officer, responsible for overseeing various business units including HR, sales, marketing, legal and IP, and developing models for sustainable certified natural rubber with big and smallholders in Vietnam.
Liz Bui has a diverse educational background. Liz holds a Certificate in Diversity & Inclusion from Cornell University, a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from Pepperdine Law, an M.S. & Ph.D. in Anatomy & Cell Biology (Neurobiology, Microbiology) from University of California, Los Angeles, a B.S. in Biology from Tulane University, and a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Cell Biology and Anatomy from University of California, Los Angeles.
