Andy Bierman has had a long and varied career in software engineering. Andy began their career in 1987 at DAVID Systems as a Senior Software Engineer and Software Engineer, developing embedded OS for PBX and ethernet products. In 1992, they moved to SynOptics Communications as a Software Engineer, leading a software team that created and maintained all embedded network management for System 3000 and System 5000 ethernet switches. Andy then joined Cisco Systems in 1994 as a Technical Leader. In 2005, they became the CEO of Netconf Central, Inc. In 2010, they joined Brocade as a Software Architect, developing a REST API for YANG based NETCONF server in C and an openstack quantum L2 driver for VDX switches running NOS in Python. Finally, in 2012, they became the CEO/Principal Engineer of YumaWorks, Inc., a startup to support Yuma software and create a next generation programmatic control plane SDK and configuration management server.

Andy Bierman attended San Francisco State University from 1978 to 1982, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts in Radio and Television. Andy then returned to the same university from 1983 to 1987 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
