Furthermore, they have held positions at Ambassador Enterprises, a private equity company that assists leaders in optimizing their organizations, and True North Strategic Advisors, where they were the Vice President. Earlier in their career, they ran for mayor of Fort Wayne and served as the 2nd District Elected Representative on the County Council of Allen County, Indiana.
Additionally, Paula has experience in the commercial real estate industry as a broker at BND Commercial and has served as the President of the Downtown Improvement District. Overall, their work experience demonstrates their versatility and expertise in leadership, consulting, and community engagement.
Paula Hughes-Schuh obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Religious Studies from Indiana University Bloomington in 1991. Paula then pursued a Master of Business Administration in Management and Marketing from the University of Saint Francis, completing their studies in 1999.

YWCA Northeast Indiana's Mission is to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all in Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Noble, Wells, and Whitley Counties. We provide a full continuum of care for victims and potential victims of domestic violence - from prevention education to long-term support after the crisis. This includes our operation of Indiana's longest-serving domestic violence Crisis Shelter. We also provide support for the diverse immigrant and refugee communities in Northeast Indiana by providing classes such as Citizenship and English as a Second Language, as well as assistance connecting to local resources such as CANI's Energy Assistance Program.
