Kandaswamy (Swamy) Vijayan

Kandaswamy (Swamy) Vijayan has a diverse work experience in the lifesciences and biotechnology industry. Kandaswamy (Swamy) currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer at Zafrens, where the company focuses on developing high-throughput and high-resolution approaches to studying cells. Prior to this, they were the CEO of Plexium, where they pioneered a novel therapeutic approach of converting protein binders to protein degraders. Before Plexium, they were the CEO of Omniome Inc., where they led the development of cost-effective sequencing methods. Kandaswamy (Swamy) also worked at Illumina as the Nanobiotechnology Group Leader in the Advanced Research Group. Additionally, Swamy has contributed to the field as an independent Scientist/Director/Entrepreneur and as an Integration Scientist at BioNanomatrix.

Kandaswamy (Swamy) Vijayan obtained their PhD in Physics from the University of Pennsylvania, where they studied from 2002 to 2007. Prior to that, they completed their B.Sc in Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur from 1997 to 2001. In their earlier education, they attended DAV Gopalapuram for high school from 1995 to 1997. Additionally, they completed a Diploma in Executive Perspectives for Scientists and Engineers at UC San Diego from 2012 to 2013.
