Dean Birzniek has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Dean currently works as a Group Product Manager at Assembly Payments, starting in January 2018. Before that, they worked as a Product, Design, and Strategy Consultant at Smarter Business Tools Australia, where they reviewed and improved a payments app for a B2C SaaS startup. Prior to that, they held a role as a SaaS Product Manager at Glow, leading a small startup team in designing and developing a SaaS product for consumer product manufacturers. Dean has also worked as a Product Developer and Experience Designer at Smarter Business Tools Australia and held various Product and Strategy roles at Computershare Utility Services, where they played a key role in growing the Serviceworks business and led product strategy and roadmap development for BPO services. Dean'swork at Computershare also involved exploring acquisition and disposal opportunities and supporting the trade sale process of their Connectnow product/business. Dean started their career at Serviceworks Management, where they held various Product and Strategy roles, and later worked as a Senior Manager for Product and Strategy at ANZ in their Global Transaction Services division. Overall, Dean Birzniek has demonstrated expertise in product management, strategy, and consulting across multiple industries.
Dean Birznieks completed their education in a variety of fields. In 1993-1994, they attended Deakin University, where they studied Computer/Information Technology Administration and Management. In 1990-1991, they pursued Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration at Swinburne College Pty Ltd. Dean also took part in several short courses, including Applied Corporate Finance & Valuation and Financial Modelling (Advanced Excel), offered by Terappin Financial Training in 2012 and 2011 respectively. Furthermore, in 1994, they acquired project management skills, including Microsoft Project, through a course at APESMA. Additionally, Dean attended the Canberra Institute of Technology for Corporate Security and Fraud Investigation Techniques in 1991 and underwent Law Enforcement Investigation and Interviewing training in 1990 at the Victoria Police Detective Training School.
More recently, in 2016, Dean studied Full Stack Web Development (WDI-10) and earned a certification in Product Management from General Assembly. The following year, in 2017, they gained expertise in Virtual Reality Design and Service Design at Academy Xi, obtained a certification in UX Design from General Assembly, completed a course in Human Centred Design at Huddle Academy, and acquired a Prince2 Practitioner certification in Project Management from the Knowledge Academy. Additionally, in the same year, they became a Certified PSPO 1 through Scrum.Org. Dean also obtained a Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma from the Lean Sigma Institute in Melbourne between 2016 and 2017.
