Nolan van Rossum is a Research Scientist at Zap Energy since June 2021, specializing in plasma research. Previously, Nolan held the position of Experimental Plasma Physicist and Aeronautical Engineer at Lockheed Martin from August 2019 to June 2021, where responsibilities included managing the development of diagnostics for high vacuum and high voltage plasma environments and supervising data campaign execution. As a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from July 2017 to June 2019, Nolan led the design of a plasma experiment aimed at optimizing neutron production for nuclear detection purposes and contributed to reports for the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office. Nolan earned a Master’s Degree in Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2019 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering with a Minor in Physics from Iowa State University in 2016.
